YAWGOOG 2008

T. Dawson Brown Gate at Yawgoog Scout reservation

Once again, Troop 183 had a wonderful week in Sleepy Hollow. The highlight of the week came on Sunday, when we again were awarded the "Fred" award, the Program Commissioners choice for Troop of the Week, essentially the second place in Three Point.. The boys worked very hard this year and it paid off!

Three boys advanced in rank this summer, including our Senior Patrol Leader, Matt Hay attaining the rank of Eagle!! The other two advanced to First Class.

We also placed quite well in the competitions this summer:

We had fun as well, as we always do while at summer camp. Several of the older Scouts completed the Adventure II course at the Challenge Center (Mr. Abbott even tried to go up the climbing wall, giving his new hip a "test drive"). The new Scouts (along with some of our older boys0 learned about wild edibles from the Nature Center staff on a wild edibles hike, and many of the new boys earned a lot of rank advancement requirements at the New Frontier center.

Needless to say, everyone is looking forward to next summer!
